Purple Christmas

Thought you all would enjoy seeing the purple quilt I made for my bedroom. The pattern is an embroidery pattern by Claudia's  Creations. The purple fabrics with some complimentary greens, quilting the entire quilt using a metallic gold thread, lent itself to a Victorian look. I was pleased with the results.

Isn't it pretty on my Victorian bed?
And check out that loaded purple Christmas tree in the corner of my bedroom. I Love it!
This tree is in my front room. It has ornaments made by you guessed it, me. The angels were made years ago in the 90's. Free motion angels using gold metallic thread over stiffened netting. Then attached to white felt and stuffed. The pink balls are wrapped in a machine embroidered tatting using white cotton thread then sewn together. Lots of thread and time but very pretty.
And when the festivities are done, relax with your best buddy!

Before and After

Isn't interesting to see the before and after pictures of quilting? This one had me stumped for awhile. Then it was just go for it! Too much fun. This is a cute quilt. I enjoyed quilting it.

Loved the look of the trees quilted in swirls. That was the beginning of the theme if you will, for this quilt.
Then I decided to do feathers inside of the fence posts. Really liked that!

 Finished minus the binding. Cute.
Picture of the back shows a lot of quilting done.

Walking Duke

Meet Duke. He is my best buddy. He watches out for me and loves to take long exploratory walks on our property. Then when we are done, he takes a long nap so I can get to work!
On our way home around 4:00 this was the view. I had to stop to take a picture. It was so pretty to me. You can see the snow on the ground.

Thanksgiving

Welcome to my table. My granddaughter learned to set the table this year. She did a great job! She is eight years old and very helpful.
I made the napkins and table cloth. It was amazing to find fabric to match the plates so well! The tablecloth is a suede type fabric. It actually washes very well. It's important to  remove it from the dryer cause it doesn't really iron at all but makes a pretty table setting. Have a wonderful thanksgiving.

It's Cold out there.

It's cold outside, but cozy in here! I love my wood stove. You get such a nice warm heat with a wood stove. This one heats my entire house quite well. And stocking the wood up, keeps me in shape over the winter!  Now for that cup of hot chocolate.

Benartex Kit

The quilt top was made quite a few years by me as a store sample. I just loved the lively colors.   Most of my customer's didn't, as it took a long time to sell these kits!  The pieces were all pre-cut and you ironed them onto a fusible backing, then sewed along a fold line. It was quick and easy and gave very nice lines. The The corners were mitered,  and I fussy sewed the binding so the blue stripe would show up. Because the quilt is so "busy", the panto "popcorn" was used as an all over design.  A cheery quilt to cuddle in on a dreary day!  I call it my "Happy" quilt.

Mom's birthday blanket

Mom's birthday blanket was so much fun to quilt. She is in her 80's and gets cold. So I thought two layers of polar fleece quilted together would warm her up! I used a navy Glide thread top and bottom. Turned out so very nice. She loves it!

Fall Colors

Look at those trees! Wow. Went to town and had to stop to take a picture. These trees were beautiful.

Daisys and Logs

The batting is a 6oz polyester which made the quilt puffy and very drapey. Lots of practice with ruler work in the ditch of the log cabins. I used a Daisy design for the borders and in the corners. Thread was a purple Glide, top and bottom. Turned out nice and fluffy.
Since the top side is a print it's hard to see the designs. The back shows the quilting well.

House and Trees quilt

So this quilt was sent to me by Viki. It sat in a plastic bag for years and had yellow "lines" where it had been folded. So in the wash it went. Now it's drying on my new solar dryer! Next it was pressed and many threads clipped on the backside in preparation to be quilted.
